An Oceanfront Residence
We were hired to design a vacation home for a new couple that lives in Illinois and wanted to have a getaway retreat where they could gather with their grown-up kids for special family vacations.
This ocean-front corner unit on the 14th floor looks out towards the beach and the harbor and has the most stunning sunset views one can ever imagine.
Given that the condo is situated on the beach, we refinished the floors using a beautiful white-washed wood-look porcelain tile for cleanability and durability. The direction of the tile is orientated to carry you towards the best views in the condo.
We carried the blues from the window mullions (a building feature) and from the ocean into the dining room and kitchen with the paint and backsplash colors and the sandy colors in the unit through the colors of the wood veneer, floors, rugs and tile work.
We wanted the kids room to be fun and vibrant and brought color in through the rug, the light fixture and the coordinated bedding.
The guest bedroom as an exotic feel, with the palm leaf fan and the abstract palm leaf rug.
Overall, the color-scheme is natural and somewhat neutral with strategic punches of color top bring life and vibrancy for the perfect vacation home atmosphere.
